Founding and Mission

The May Stevens and Rudolf Baranik Foundation is a private foundation based in New York City. It was founded in 2021 to preserve the legacies of artists May Stevens (1924–2019) and Rudolf Baranik (1920–1998) and to promote education surrounding the work of both artists. The foundation achieves its goals by focusing on the ways that social issues and social engagement intersect with the art of the past, present, and future and provide public access to Stevens’ and Baranik’s work through archival research, exhibitions, publications, educational programs, and digital projects.
